𓂃DANCING SILENCE, SILENT DANCE
Try moving in silence — with no music.Let the absence of music to open other ways of listening.
Begin by noticing the sounds that are already present:
your breath, your partner’s movements, the shifting air in the room,
the quiet sounds of feet meeting the floor, or noises coming from outside.
Follow what you hear.
Let these sounds guide your pace, your timing, your attention.
See how silence allows you to sense other rhythms —
the rhythm of your heartbeat, your pulse, the rhythm of space itself.
You can also create your own sounds through movement —
a sliding foot, a release of air, a shift of weight.
Notice how your sounds meet the room’s sounds,
how they form a conversation without words.
Take time.
You might discover that one movement score holds more than one silent song.
Move long enough to meet your own habits first —
then allow something unfamiliar, or something remembered in a new way, to appear.
Ask yourself:
What am I following?
How am I listening?
Where does this lead me?
